As a long-time member of the Friends of the Library and the Library Board, I have great affection for the current building but am very familiar with its limitations—the few parking spaces, the need for more room, the difficulty getting up and down the stairs for many, the lack of private meeting space, and other difficulties. The new building and site will make it nicer for patrons, groups, volunteers, staff, visitors to our area—everyone who visits the Library. It will help all ages, from babies to seniors, and it will be very welcome.

We are so proud of our programs; they make important community connections. Family Place is one of my favorites. For six weeks, parents and their young children enjoy educational play groups while discussing child development issues (vision, hearing, nutrition, potty training, etc) with local experts. Up to 25 families participate, so sessions must meet before we open, and parking is never easy. We can’t wait to serve more families in a facility with comfortable access and more space!”

I see the importance of the library building project from a number of perspectives. As a local financial professional, I know that the new facility will help keep and attract residents and businesses, and I’ve seen many corporate, organizational and personal donations that reflect how greatly our library is prized. As a native of this area, I know how highly our residents value education and personal growth, and that demands a library with better access, more space and more resources. On a personal level, my thoughts quickly go to my mother and her intense involvement with our library. She was part of the sorority that helped create the original library, and I want to honor that legacy by supporting this effort in every way that I can.
