Services & Policies

Library Cards

Borrowing is free, but you must have a library card in your possession to check out materials.

You must use your own library card.

To obtain a library card, please register at the circulation desk during normal library hours. Personal identification is required.

To receive a library card, a child must be at least 5 years of age or in kindergarten, as well as be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Lost library cards

Replacement cost is $2.00. (Once the new card has been issued, the old one will not be recognized by the computer system.)

A parent or legal guardian must sign on-site for a child’s replacement card.

Internet Access

At the circulation desk, you may register for public access to the internet and review the written rules and guidelines.

Internet Hotspots

The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library is partnering with T-Mobile to offer mobile hotspots to our patrons for a nominal fee ($15 for 14 days).  For more information please view this document.

Circulation Periods

Items circulate for 28 days with these exceptions:

New Bestsellers: 14 days

Audiobooks: 28 days

DVDs: 7 days (4 from adult circulation and 4 from children’s circulation per borrowing family)

Selected encyclopedias in the Children’s Room: 14 days.

Reference titles (R or JR) do not circulate.

Renewals

Patrons may renew materials for one additional circulation period providing the materials are not overdue and have no existing holds.

Fines

We are now a fine-free library! This means that while fees will not be charged for checked-out materials that are returned late, patrons are still expected to return them on time. Furthermore, items that are not returned within 90 days will be marked as lost and the full replacement cost will be charged to the patron.

Lost or Damaged Materials

You are responsible for borrowed materials and are expected to pay for lost or damaged items. If a book is damaged and can be rebound, the charge will be based on rebinding costs.

Parent or guardian holds responsibility for the library card of a child until age 18. This includes all borrowed materials and fines.

If you lose an item and pay for it, the price will be refunded if the item is returned in good condition within 30 days of payment.

Holds & Interlibrary Loans

Holds and Interlibrary Loans can be requested through the circulation desks. Create your own SPARK account and place holds yourself.

Book Drop

The book drop is provided for your convenience to allow you to return items when the Library is closed.
