Welcome to a virtual tour of the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library! Click through the gallery above to see everything we have to offer.
From the main entrance, we’ll start with the front desk. Here is where you bring your books to be checked out, purchased, etc. (You can also use the book drop outside to return books.) Simply walk up and one of the friendly librarians on staff will assist you with anything you need. The shelves around the outside of the central office carry the library’s collection of DVD and Blu-Ray Discs, which features popular movies, both fiction and nonfiction.
Immediately to your left is the Best of Friends Books & More Store. Here, for a small donation, you can take home a variety of books and other items. You can also donate books that are in good condition.
Also to your left are the shelves that house our fiction and non-fiction collection, which extend to the back of the library. The large display case at the front of the library includes items from someone who wished to share their collection. At the time this picture was taken, Barb Bundy’s impressive Harry Potter collection was on display. If you walk by the display case, you’ll find one of the library’s quiet study rooms. We have two quiet study rooms available, and they can be checked out for 2 hours at a time. As the name suggests, our quiet study rooms are a quiet place for you to study or read. They’re great for students! If you turn right at this quiet study room, further down along the wall will be a hallway. At the end of this hallway, to the left and right, are the public restrooms. At the very end is the door to the Community Room. The Community Room is where the Library holds special events, meetings, and classes. The Community Room has an attached kitchen for catering. You can also enter the Community Room from two outside entrances. For more details about the Community Room, click here.
Backtrack down the hallway and through the shelves to the back of the library, and you will find the Young Adult Room. Books inside this room include graphic novels and manga, as well as other fiction and nonfiction books geared toward the young adult audience. There are guitars to play or learn to play, two computers, a TV, magazines, board games and more. Another great place to hang out or work on a group project for school.
Exiting the Young Adult Room and turning left, you’ll walk by the new nonfiction outside of the Children’s Room, CDs and audiobooks, and two spinning racks of paperback books. These paperbacks are on the honor system. Tell us you’re taking them home, and then just bring them back when you are done with them. The Children’s Room is the largest room in the library aside from the main room. It contains all of the library’s children’s books, along with many fun toys and activities. To learn more about the Children’s Room and the children’s resources we provide, click here.
Continuing on from outside the Children’s Room, you can find a seating area outside of the other quiet study room, as well as the side entrance to the library. Outside of this side entrance is our amphitheater and a few tables with chairs. Take a book and read outside if the weather is nice.
Continuing past the side entrance, you will find twelve public computers and the entrance to the Armed Forces Room. The computers are free to use for anyone with a library card. The Armed Forces Room has a collection of books focusing on history, wars, and the soldiers who fought in them. It’s also home to the Pennsylvania Collection. These books cannot be checked out, but they can be read within the library. In the Armed Forces Room, you can enjoy a cup of coffee using the supplies provided. Finally, if you head left outside of the Armed Forces Room, you will find books by local authors, as well as the new fiction books situated on the shelves in the corner.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to study, learn, or get lost in a good book, the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has everything you need and more.
