The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library is an accredited Family Place Library. Our Children’s Room is a safe and welcoming environment where children, along with their caregivers, can play and learn together. Books, puzzles, dramatic play items, blocks, trains, puppets, and more provide a fun space to explore.
The Children’s Room offers storybooks, board books, fiction and nonfiction books, audiobooks, family videos, and storybooks with audiotapes. Our collection is designed to encourage a love of reading and learning for children of all ages, from infants through elementary school. Families can also explore materials that support early literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning.
All Children’s programming is FREE and we do not require registration.
Storytime is held twice weekly during the school year and throughout the summer. Enjoy stories, songs, shaky eggs, bubbles, and a craft!
Dance, Sing & Play is our weekly music and movement program for Preschoolers. Need to get your wiggles out? Dance, sing, shake the parachute, and some shaky eggs too!
LEGOs in the Library: Bring your imagination, we’ll supply the LEGO bricks! This program is intended for ages 6-12.
Maker Monday: All day, each Monday, a STEM challenge or activity is provided in the Children’s Room. Come explore the FUN!
PAWS to Read: One Saturday each month, our friends at the Central PA Humane Society bring a pet for us to meet and read to. Studies show that reading aloud to animals is the perfect way to help your child improve their reading skills and fluency. All ages are welcome with a caregiver.

StoryWalk Hollidaysburg: Each Summer, our downtown businesses partner with us to provide a brand-new StoryWalk, an activity that promotes literacy and physical activity. Posters with picture book pages are placed in participating business windows. These posters not only tell the story, but allow families to read, move, and connect. The final stop is always our Library, where each child is rewarded with a book prize of their choice. also
ParentTV offers thousands of on-demand parenting videos and courses with content designed to support those who care for children, from pregnancy through to teenage years.
ParentTV works with leading psychologists, pediatricians, mental health specialists, nutritionists, occupational therapists and parenting educators across the globe.
Search and find videos on general parenting, play, behavior, child development, mental health, sleep, nutrition, technology and more. Most videos are under 10 minutes in length and can be accessed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Chat with a librarian, find kid-centered e-resources, books, movies, and PA Photos and Documents in a single, kid-friendly format.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten can now be completed online! Grownups and their children aged 6 and younger are invited to visit https://blaircountylibraries.beanstack.org to register and log your books. You can also pick up a paper copy of the book log from the Children’s Room or print your own from the 1,000 Books website https://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/
